Our eyesight plays a fundamental role in how we see the world around us, so its importance must not be underestimated when it comes to sports.
This is why Divel Italia designs and produces specific lenses for sports eyewear.
Out of our Divel Sports lab come our Sport Single vision and Progressive lenses, a new line of graduated lenses designed for athletes.
Our Sport Single vision lens gives athletes clear, accurate vision in a range of weather conditions. The high-performance materials of this single vision sports lens ensure optimal vision of the court or field.
Our Sport Progressive lens is designed to provide athletes the widest and clearest view of details up close and excellent vision of all obstacles, targets and objects at play in their general surroundings. Available also in photochromic, polarized and mirrored versions, and with all types of coatings, to properly protect both the athlete and the eyewear itself.
Lenses can be customized for functional purposes based on the needs of the athlete and of the sport.
In addition to protecting from the sun, sports eyewear also needs to provide effective protection against wind, dust, water and bugs.
This is why the coatings applied to the lenses need to ensure both visual comfort and technical performance, including: scratch resistance, anti-glare, anti-static, water and oil repellent, extra clarity, blue block, and anti-fog.
Color, too, is very important to ensuring clear, accurate vision based on the lighting conditions at play. We have 16 colors to choose from, to which you can add varying degrees of intensity depending on your protection needs.
Every sport has its color! The color of a sports lens improves your vision by reducing glare and optimizing contrasts.
Into outdoor sports?
If you’re doing an outdoor or field sport on a cloudy day or in the evening, use yellow or gray lenses to increase contrasts.
On a sunny day, though, you’ll want to increase saturation and vision clarity, so opt for orange or brown lenses to see better in changes between light and shadow.
On the water or at the beach, you need to reduce glare. On a sunny day, use gray lenses to reduce contrast when you’ll be exposed to bright light for long periods of time. If it’s cloudy or getting dark, wear orange lenses to increase depth of vision.
So as you can see, each color has its own characteristics. Lenses for outdoor sports need to help you see, protect your eyes, and minimize eyestrain.
And for indoor sports?
At Divel, we have the solution for that, too.
Lenses for indoor sports need to give you perfect vision of your adversaries and of all the objects in play, while also protecting your eyes and minimizing the eyestrain caused by long periods of visual effort.
Our lenses for indoor sports are available in single vision and progressive versions.
Our progressive lenses for indoor sports are designed to give you maximum visual performance in both near and intermediate vision. The special progressive corridors give you visual comfort in all zones, especially up close, which is the most crucial for indoor sports.
And what about sports that require perfect focus?
Our single vision and progressive sports lenses can be customized and adapted to your specific needs, even for special sports such as golf, billiards, archery, and more.
All of these disciplines call for perfect vision of the target or other specific object at play. It is also crucial for the lenses to stay clean and well protected against external agents (e.g. dust, grime, bugs), particularly when outdoors on a sunny day.
Lenses for these particular sports (eyewear for golf, eyewear for billiards, and eyewear for archery) need to be carefully studied, because the inset needs to be handled differently. They also need to be especially high-performance lenses and to adapt to lighting conditions both indoors and outdoors.
Each and every DIVEL Sport product is the result of in-depth research to ensure you get excellent visual performance and absolute protection, thanks to high-quality materials and coatings.
